Increasing the average ticket per operation is always an attractive goal in any business — and workshops are no exception. In part, because higher revenue usually also means increased profits, at least in general terms. That’s why, regardless of the workshop’s specialization, one of the key KPIs is the average ticket per service, as it provides insight into the effectiveness of pricing strategies and a business’s market competitiveness. In essence, it measures the average income generated by each operation or step carried out in a specific service.
In the case of electromechanical workshops, according to data from the 2024 White Paper on Workshops by Conepa and MSI, the average ticket ranges from €80.78 per service in small workshops to €166.36 in large and very large ones, while medium-sized workshops achieve €108.97 per operation.
The strategy of small workshops involves having the lowest average ticket, which may reflect a competitive pricing plan or a limited capacity to handle more complex jobs that would demand higher prices. Nevertheless, an average ticket of €80.78 per step may be appropriate to ensure customer retention in more price-sensitive markets.
When it comes to medium-sized workshops, which have an average ticket of €108.97, they show a significant increase compared to smaller ones. “This increase could be associated with greater specialization or the ability to handle more complex and technically demanding electromechanical issues, which justifies higher prices,” states the White Paper on Workshops.
Finally, large and very large workshops, which show very similar average tickets — around €166 per step — reflect their capacity to carry out highly complex operations that require advanced technology and specialized skills. This level of average ticket may also indicate a clientele that values quality and service specialization over cost.
