What type of workshop maintains the vehicle? Do buyers purchase an extended warranty?<\/strong> The study \u201c<em>Habits in Buying Used Vehicles and Young Used Vehicles in 2024<\/em>\u201d, conducted by coches.net and Faconauto, provides answers to some of these questions about the trends in the second-hand vehicle market and user preferences throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>According to the study, three out of four used vehicle buyers do <strong>not<\/strong> contract a maintenance service for their vehicle, which represents six points less than in 2023: from 81% in 2023 to 75% this year. Among those who do contract maintenance, the majority go to an official dealership: 61% choose this option, compared with 29% who opt for a multi-brand workshop (three points less than last year), while 10% go to a repair franchise, which is the fastest-growing option (up 7%).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The main reason for choosing the dealership?<\/strong> Warranty remains the primary factor driving this decision.<\/p>\n<p>Product knowledge, at 26%, is the second reason for choosing the official workshop, followed by trust (22%), price (12%), and proximity to home (9%).<\/p>\n<p>And what about the multi-brand workshop? What motivates the 29% of used vehicle buyers who choose it? Trust is by far the leading reason. More than half (51%) of used vehicle buyers opt for a multi-brand workshop for this reason, followed by warranty (16%), product knowledge (14%), price (12%), and proximity to home (7%).<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, once the maintenance contract ends\u2014usually one or two years after purchasing the used vehicle\u2014drivers predominantly choose to continue with the official dealership for maintenance (57%), even though this option has declined compared to 2023, dropping five points. Almost one in three buyers (32%) will go to a multi-brand workshop, compared with 31% who planned to do so in 2023. Multi-brand repair franchises are the fastest-growing option: 11% will use them, up seven points from 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, one in four respondents (25%) believes that official dealerships charge 30% more than independent workshops, although this is five points less than a year ago (24% this year versus 29% last year). Another 21% think they charge 20% more, while 8% consider the official dealership prices to be 10% higher. Those who perceive the increase to be above these figures amount to 9%, believing dealerships are 50% more expensive than independents, and 10% even think it is over 50% higher. On the other hand, 7% see no notable differences, and 21% have no opinion on the matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three out of four used car buyers do not purchase
