One of the many regulations that workshops must comply with, regardless of their speciality, is that relating to waste and contaminated land. Determine how to handle and manage the waste and residues produced in workshops, given that their activities generate waste that is particularly harmful to the environment, such as used oils, batteries, tyres, etc.<\/p>\n

Reducing environmental impact and complying with regulations is one of the objectives of any workshop. This is one of the sector\u2019s main complaints about the problem of illegal workshops and the unfair competition they bring to the sector. Not only do they operate clandestinely, but they also generate all sorts of waste on which they do not pay any taxes or fees, allowing them to offer cheaper repairs without any guarantee or security.<\/p>\n

  1. Register of producers<\/strong>: workshops must be registered in the Register of waste producers of the Autonomous Community to which they belong, a register that is usually managed by the Regional Ministry of the Environment.<\/li>\n
  2. Undertake correct waste storage<\/strong>. The premises must be covered, well ventilated, have a paved floor and a sump.<\/li>\n
  3. Sorting of waste<\/strong>: the workshop must sort waste by type into approved containers and drums. In the case of waste considered hazardous, the containers must be sealed.<\/li>\n
  4. Labelling and identification of each conditioner<\/strong>, although labelling must be provided by the collection and management company.<\/li>\n
  5. Avoid dumping<\/strong>: public drains, public containers, open spaces or any other area are not appropriate places to dump industrial waste generated by workshops.<\/li>\n
  6. Emissions logbook<\/strong>: in the case of paint shops with a booth, it is mandatory to have an emissions logbook for each source of emission (one for the emissions generated by the diesel burner and another to regulate the paint vapours filtered by the booth itself).<\/li>\n
  7. Record log<\/strong>: used to control the origin and characteristics of each individual waste produced.<\/li>\n
  8. Waste management with authorised companies<\/strong>, as in the case of used tyres.<\/li>\n
  9. Measurements to verify emissions<\/strong>: Measuring air quality is a highly recommended measure in the daily operation of the workshop.<\/li>\n
