The shortage of certain raw materials, together with the microchip or semiconductor crisis, means that many vehicle factories are unable to meet vehicle delivery deadlines, which in many cases can be almost a year long. The production of components has also been affected, which is undoubtedly causing serious problems for workshops, as delays in the delivery of parts also increase repair times.<\/p>\n<p>However, the severe supply crisis and, above all, <strong>the shortage of semiconductors and microchips<\/strong> for just over two years now, is leading to an increase in vehicle quality defects, <strong>which could have a positive impact on workshops<\/strong>. This is according to the Initial Quality Study by JD Power, which not only shows which brands are the most reliable in the market, but also quantifies the loss of quality in manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, <strong>all the car brands analysed in the study have lowered the quality of their models compared to 2022<\/strong>. And although the data is taken from the US market, it can be compared with markets such as Europe, as most brands have a global presence. Specifically, only 9 of the 33 companies analysed have maintained their quality in 2023 compared to the data obtained in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>In a more in-depth analysis depending on engine type, the study shows that combustion engine models have an average of 175 quality \u201cdefects\u201d per 100 units, while electric models have an average of 240 problems and plug-in hybrids have 239 incidents. In addition, quality defects are particularly prevalent in models that have come off the production line in the last twelve months. In particular, the report highlights that <strong>new models have, on average, 25 more incidents<\/strong> than models that have been on the market longer.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, it points out that premium brands accumulate the most faults, which is logical as they have the most semiconductors or chips.\u202f<strong>The main problem with new cars is the infotainment systems<\/strong>, which is why more and more users are turning to their trusted workshops to fix problems with Apple <em>CarPlay<\/em> and <em>Android Auto<\/em> systems, displays, driving assistants and even voice recognition systems. This is why it is important for workshops to receive the ongoing training we always recommend, because if they know how these technologies work, they will be able to provide a better service to their
