One of these components is the brakes and, in particular, the brake fluid, which must be able to cope with the differences between this type of vehicle and conventional combustion engine vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>As with conventional combustion engine vehicles, the brake fluid should in most cases be changed every two years. But this is where the similarities end, as the requirements for this element of the braking system are much higher for electric vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, <strong>brake fluids for electric vehicles need to be more resistant to corrosion<\/strong>. The reason? Because the electric motor also acts as a brake, providing energy to the battery, the mechanical braking system is used less frequently. This leads to spot corrosion, which requires special additives to counteract.<\/p>\n<p>The second major difference can be explained by <strong>the greater weight of electric vehicles compared to combustion vehicles<\/strong>. Because they are generally heavier, and because their batteries allow them to reach high speeds quickly due to their greater power, they also need to be able to brake hard in the event of danger. This means that brakes heat up much faster, so brake fluids must be able to operate at higher temperatures, requiring a high boiling point in both dry and wet conditions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Thirdly, the <strong>electrical conductivity<\/strong> must be as <strong>low as possible<\/strong>. This is important if an electrical system is installed close to the braking system and is not adequately protected from electricity. As with the wireless inductive charging of an electric toothbrush or mobile phone, <strong>electrical voltages can be induced<\/strong> in the braking system <strong>which can degrade the brake fluid<\/strong> or cause corrosion.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, as with engine oil, the viscosity of the fluid determines its performance. <strong>The lower the viscosity, the faster the engine is lubricated<\/strong>, so a low-viscosity brake fluid transmits braking impulses through the system more quickly. Not to mention that electronic driving assistance systems such as ABS or ESP work better and are more sensitive.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Increased corrosion resistance,
